Education is Power
Peace Corps STOMP coordinator Emily and her co-teacher Jean de la Croix did two presentations about malaria prevention: one for patients at their local health center and another for their school.
"We focused on mosquito net care and other prevention techniques," says Emily. "Croix did a fantastic job translating and also answering numerous questions about malaria. He has been such a super star to work with, from co-facilitating multiple Grassroots Soccer interventions; mobilizing other teachers to discuss malaria prevention; and helping me lead debates, writing and drawing contests, and trainings."
Emily is a volunteer in the Eastern province as part of the Peace Corps Education Cohort, teaching English to secondary and primary students in rural schools. It is safe to say, this duo is doing excellent work to fight malaria in their community through STOMP programs and resources!
